Today, I have released a new product that I am very excited about. It is a lightweight cooling fan for the VW Type 1 Doghouse cooling system.
It's the first new cooling fan for the doghouse cooler, that I am aware of, and it does have a provisional patent (Patent Pending).
It's a one piece design, as you can see here:
It is made of a material that makes it very lightweight, over 74% lighter than a stock OEM welded fan, and mounts to the same steel hub as the OEM fan does.
It is a straight radial blade centrifugal fan, that has been carefully designed to flow some 7-8% more air than an OEM fan, while still fitting in the Doghouse fan shroud. On installation, it doesn't require any spacer shims for clearance (it might need one in some sheet metal due to the tolerance variance of the parts on the market today).
This took more than a year of development and testing, and is finally available in limited quantities as of today, the 16th of June, 2021!
Possibly, the easiest way to improve the cooling of your engine, while also increasing the reliability, and perhaps even added a little horsepower because head temps will be lower due to the increased cooling capacity. The weight savings will also improve throttle responsiveness of the engine, although it might not be very noticeable, depending on the engine configuration.
